Client brief

I'm looking for a relatively 'young' sounding name for a technology journalism website. The purpose of the website is to get me recognized as a technology journalist / writer. The name needs to sound professional, but can still be 'fun'. It can be either 'business like' (so that it can be scaled for the website to also have other people writing for it) or 'personal' (like "Mr Technology" or "One Man's Wisdom" or something). I'll be speaking about consumer technology products, as well as the companies that surround them. Websites to smartphones, and corporate scandals to business start-ups. Really hope you can come up with something, as I'd like to get this off the ground soon. Key needs: Short, Professional, Young, Fun, Technology Connotations, Unique. Oh, also worth pointing out: The domain absolutely must be available as a .com address (as well as .co.uk and as many others as possible) and also should be something which is unlikely to be taken on sites such as facebook or twitter. One point: I really would like a name which is entirely unique. I noticed one in a contest just now called "Yazado" which is unique and catchy. Something like that would be awesome. Another Point: I had decided to use one of the submitted names just now. It was a fantastic name! But unfortunately the exact same name existed already - but without an "s"... Unfortunately this could cause confusion between the two sites- so I'm unable to use it for myself. :( Please check that any domains you submit aren't too close to any others. e.g. www.cocacola.com and www.cocacolas.com

Naming tips for Technology Journalism Blog

Keep it pronounceable

A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.

.com still beats clever TLDs

Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.

Avoid trademark traps

Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.

Test it in a sentence

Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
