Client brief

Hi. I'm looking for a memorable company name for an online seller. I will be selling on Amazon, eBay and through my own domain. I'd like a relatively short and memorable name. I'd like a name that has a good feeling to it and implies some positive qualities. I do not want a literal name such as ValueSeller or GreatImports or anything that indicates selling, Amazon, ebay. I am interested in a fanciful name that ideally sounds like another word. Or it could be an entirely made up word that is easy to pronounce and sounds good. I'm going to be selling a wide range of products so I don't want any particular product type in the name but rather want something with a wider use.

Tips for choosing a great business name

Keep it pronounceable

A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.

.com still beats clever TLDs

Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.

Avoid trademark traps

Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.

Test it in a sentence

Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
