Client brief

I need a name for my fan even planners blog, providing advice, tips, tricks, resources, and best practices to other event planners. It's main focus is fan-based events, often with a geeky/nerdy spin (think sci-fi or comic conventions like SDCC or PAX, only on a smaller, non-corporate scale) or any event where fun and camaraderie are important, as opposed to stuffy business conferences. A name that implies an "outside of the box" event or a "DIY" event planner would be great. My target audience is mainly first-time fan event planners that are often on the younger side and usually do not have corporate background or funding and usually do not have any event planning experience or training - people who are trying to start a convention of their own, on their own, but need some guidance - or people running moderately successful fan events who want to take things to the next level without breaking the bank. Many first-time events can end in disaster (ever hear of Dashcon?) due to common missteps and poor planning that could be easily avoided.

I'd love a clever/fun name, preferably a .com but I will also consider "domain hacks" that make clever use of less common TLDs - such as unCONvention.al or nonCONformi.st (both of which are taken). I do not want an obscure TLD just because the .com is taken.

Something short and punchy, easy to say and spell would be best. I'm also open to compound names, similar to EventBrite or FanSpark, Ticketbud, EventJuice or the like. (keyword followed by punchy but often unrelated word), but I'm less interested in totally made up names like Tumblr or Twitter that don't really give you a hint about what they do.

Naming tips for Fan event planners blog

Keep it pronounceable

A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.

.com still beats clever TLDs

Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.

Avoid trademark traps

Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.

Test it in a sentence

Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
