Marketing directory Name Ideas

Client brief

The name is for a online directory of marketing-related stuff (marketing tools, agencies, books about marketing...).

We would prefer a self-describing name (including words like "marketing", "market"...), pronounceable and not too long.

We know this is very difficult to achieve (so many marketing companies getting the good names), so we are also open to names not related to marketing and without any specific meaning, as long as they are short (8 letters maximum), easy to remember and easy to pronounce (like rovio, mixel, kiva...).

We haven't fully decided yet, but we will probably list the best of each category, so domains including "best", "top" or similar words would be nice too.

It must be .com without hyphens, symbols or numbers.

NOTE: We already own marketingpicks.com, but we are looking for something better (and shorter) than that.

Naming tips for Marketing directory

Keep it pronounceable

A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.

.com still beats clever TLDs

Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.

Avoid trademark traps

Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.

Test it in a sentence

Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
