Client brief
In need of a name for a website similar in feel to site such as BuzzFeed, UpWorthy, ViralNova, etc. Trying to avoid the cliche keywords of these brands and go with something a little more specific. Perhaps a funny combination of words such as "Bored Panda". Trying to keep it short if possible.
I don't want something that limits us to a box of stupid humor only. I prefer something semi-abstract that could branch out as anything. For example, "The Onion" is a great name because it's vague enough that it allows for them to do a lot with it. Same with "Cracked" or "Mashable". It allows room to grow and expand a brand and not be stuck in a small niche. "FunnyNews" would be bad because it puts us in a box.
I want a brandable name more than a keyword name. I am NOT a fan of overly made up words that sound cheap. i.e. "Couchable", "Milkly", "Runned", "Quology", etc. I also do NOT like two words going together that make no sense together such as "LetKing", "GoTable", "FasterGreen", "AmazingCool", etc.

Tips for choosing a great business name
Keep it pronounceable
A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.
.com still beats clever TLDs
Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.
Avoid trademark traps
Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.
Test it in a sentence
Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
