Client brief
UPDATE: I'd like to open things up a bit. I no longer require the name to be available as .COM. I would also be happy with a .INFO or .NET domain.
The name is for a website about long-term and low-budget independent travel. The site is for anyone interested in traveling the world for longer than a typical holiday, so from about a month up to a year or more. It will focus on regions like South-East Asia and South/Central America, though travel in the developed world may also be covered at a later stage.
The word "backpacking" is used internationally for this style of travel, except the US where this term seems more associated with wilderness hiking (which this site is not necessarily about). I would still consider names that include or are based on the word backpacking. Avoid too close associations with nature or hiking however.
The term "gap year travel" is sometimes used as well, though this is to be AVOIDED - it is too closely associated with very young party travelers. My demographic is broader, around 18 to 35.
The website will contain personal travelogues, visual travel inspiration and some destination information. It will mainly serve as a sales and promotion vehicle for my upcoming how-to ebook, which covers topics such as travel planning, packing, safety, health, travel insurance, budgeting, etc. My book is as yet untitled but will probably be given a descriptive book title… something along the lines of "Backpacking Made Easy: How to Stop Worrying And Start Traveling The World".
To be clear this contest is for the SITE name, not the book. I'd like the site name to be more like a brand and more symbolic.
My writing style is light, personal and humorous.

Tips for choosing a great business name
Keep it pronounceable
A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.
.com still beats clever TLDs
Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.
Avoid trademark traps
Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.
Test it in a sentence
Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
