Name for new watch brand

Client brief

Dear all! We are currently in the process of incorporating a new chronograph watch brand. All designs are almost ready, the one thing we lack is a good name for our brand.

The watches will all be very masculine looking, oversized chronographs. We are thinking to associate the brand with sports for which timekeeping is very relevant, such as motorsport (for instance rallysport) or powerboat races. It's not necessary to relate the name to it, but it may be an idea.

  • We prefer a short and porwerful name

  • We prefer a name that is more or less written as you say it, so that when people hear it (for instance in a radio commercial), they can find it on the internet with ease.

Tips for choosing a great business name

Keep it pronounceable

A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.

.com still beats clever TLDs

Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.

Avoid trademark traps

Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.

Test it in a sentence

Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
