Client brief
I’m looking for a brandable, memorable name for a travel business.
We specialise in recommending and writing about little known, less traveled, extraordinary destinations. These aren’t the type of places which are rarely visited for a reason. They are genuinely spectacular, beautiful, rarified, unknown places and experiences which for whatever reason aren’t in your average guide book.
Examples include:
- The 8th wonder of the world. The stunning temples secretly carved out below ground
- Scuba diving lost, underwater cities
- The Sistine chapel’s unknown but equally beautiful little brother
At the same time we don’t just focus on the little known. We also offer strategies, recommendations and techniques to experience popular tourist hotspots without the crowds or in a unique and unforgettable way. This goes beyond your simple “wake up early and get there before the crowds” advice. Examples include:
- How to spend the night in Sacré-Cœur Basilica
- The password you need to get access to the flight of stairs which allow you to walk on top of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.
- The secret viewing platform on top of the Eiffel tower which is actually cheaper to access than your regular ticket.
GUIDANCE:
-
Ideally the name should be one or two words. However, we won’t automatically discount longer names is they are brandable and memorable.
-
The name should not be use by another company.
-
We want to get away from uncreative phrases such as “secret destinations”, “unknown travel spots” etc…
-
If a top level domain name is available that would be a bonus but isn’t mandatory.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with :)
Thank you!

Tips for choosing a great business name
Keep it pronounceable
A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.
.com still beats clever TLDs
Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.
Avoid trademark traps
Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.
Test it in a sentence
Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
