Client brief

We have created an eLearning company for adults who wish to advance their career, or start a new career. Most of our business with be B2B with staffing/recruiting companies or organizations who wish to train their employees. The premise is that our courses will be more engaging than typical on-demand eLearning. One of the ways we deliver this is games and gamification, but that should not be in the name. Phase two of the company will develop a community where people can sell their courses in an online marketplace given they follow our standards of engagement. Our tag line is "serious learning, not so boring."

Naming tips for Elearning company emphasizing engagement

Keep it pronounceable

A good business name should be easy to say out loud and spell from memory. If you have to spell it out every time you say it, it will slow down word-of-mouth growth.

.com still beats clever TLDs

Despite hundreds of new extensions, .com remains the most trusted TLD for professional brands. Customers default to typing .com - pick a .com name whenever possible.

Avoid trademark traps

Before you register, run a quick trademark search to make sure the name is clear in your industry. Similar names in the same category can lead to costly disputes later.

Test it in a sentence

Say "I work at [name]" or "Check us out at [name].com" out loud. The name should sound natural, confident, and memorable in everyday conversation.
