How It Works
AI Domain Search is a chat. You say what you are naming, the AI finds names, checks each one for domain availability, and shows the results next to the conversation. You steer by typing, the way you would brief a person.
1. Say what you are naming
Describe a business, product, or project in a sentence or two. A paragraph with audience, tone, and examples works too. You can also ask for a shape or a pattern, such as "five-letter invented names" or "a color followed by the word kite".

2. Get names that are checked
The AI writes names, then checks each one on your chosen extension (.com by default), so you can see which ones you can register. A name counts toward your target when it is available on that extension and meets your minimum score, if you set one.
3. Steer the next batch
Type what to change: "shorter", "more playful", "must end with line", "try .ca". The chips above the message box show the rules the chat is following, and you can remove any of them.

Settings
The Settings button next to the message box holds the rules for every batch:
- Extensions -- which extension to generate on, and which others to offer as re-checks
- Name length and format -- minimum and maximum characters, one word or two
- Words -- words to include, prefixes, suffixes, and words to avoid
- How many -- the number of available names to find before the run stops
- Quality scoring -- ranks names, and can require a minimum score to count toward your target
- Approach -- see below
Approach
For an open idea, the AI first maps the world around what you are naming: the places, rituals, slang, and craft that insiders know. It groups those references into several creative directions and writes names for each. Open a direction on the run card to see the references it drew on.
The Approach setting decides how much of that a run does:
- Auto, the default, starts each run from your words as written, shown on the run card as "Straight from the brief". If that finds too few good names, the run plans creative directions and adds them as more rows, then puts more of its searches into whichever is finding more good names.
- As written follows your words with no creative directions. When you ask for a pattern ("a color followed by the word kite"), the chat switches to this for you and starts with the most common, obvious matches.
- Creative writes every batch from a creative direction, for names that go beyond the words you typed.
Generate more
Once you have names, Generate more is the main button. Each click writes another batch from directions the chat has not tried yet. Your focus and rules stay, and the new names keep the style of the ones you have. When the Approach is As written, or you asked for a pattern, it writes more names the same way instead.
To leave the current focus and go somewhere completely different, say so in the message box ("something completely different").
The Creative directions list
The Creative directions button opens a list of ideas to try. Its number is how many directions have not been tried yet.
- More like these, at the top, writes another batch in the same directions as the last one, with the same focus and rules
- A name style (such as two words, or up to six letters) becomes a rule for the chat
- A direction becomes the focus of the next names and replaces the current focus
Working with Results
Each name shows its domain, its availability, and, for aftermarket domains, the price. Click a name to see registration options and details.
Saving names
Click the star on any name to save it. Your saved names stay with the chat, and you can share the list. Save a chat as a project to keep a shared brief, market research, and a naming playbook for your team. Projects are optional, and a chat works without one. See Projects & Management.
Registering domains
Click an available domain to see registration options. NameStation links to registrars such as GoDaddy and Namecheap where you complete your purchase.
Credits
Each search, a batch of about 30 names from one direction, uses 3 credits from your account balance (12 in extended thinking mode). A run is several searches. You can set a per-run credit limit in Settings. Check your balance in your workspace settings. See Billing & Subscriptions.
Tips for Best Results
- Say who it is for -- "fitness app for busy professionals" works better than "fitness app"
- State hard rules in numbers -- "7-9 letters" or "one word" become rules the chat keeps for every batch
- Say it once, then steer -- you do not need to repeat rules; check the chips above the message box
- Use As written for formulas -- patterns want plain matches; Auto and Creative add ideas for a brand
- Save as you go -- star names the moment you like them
- Try another extension -- if .com is crowded, add .io, .co, or .ca in Settings
