Types of Generators

NameStation offers 21+ specialized generators, each using a different naming technique. They're organized into categories:

AI-Powered

• AI Search -- Describe your idea and let AI generate names using multiple strategies
• Topic Search -- Combine niche topics with keywords and categories

Word Combinations

• Compound Words -- Combine two keyword lists to create two-part names like SnapChat or Instagram
• Keyword Domains -- Mix keywords with categories and topics
• Conceptual Names -- Names that convey an idea or theme
• All Combinations -- Generate every possible combination of your keywords
• Alliterations -- Find alliterative word pairs that sound catchy

Invented Names

• Portmanteaus -- Blend words with overlapping parts (like Pinterest, Groupon)
• Made-up Names -- Create thousands of invented, brandable words
• Tweaked Names -- Add creative prefixes, suffixes, and misspellings (like Spotify, Tumblr)
• Random Names -- Random made-up names, business names, and dictionary words

Language-Based

Discovery

How to Use Generators

Step 1: Choose a Generator

Browse the generators from the Domain Search menu in the sidebar, or click any of the links above.

Step 2: Enter Keywords

Most generators accept one or more keywords. Some accept two separate keyword lists for combining. You can also select from your saved wordlists.

Step 3: Configure Options

Each generator has options specific to its technique:

• Extension -- Choose your preferred TLD (.com, .io, .co, etc.)
• Name length -- Set minimum and maximum character limits
• Availability check -- Toggle real-time domain checking
• Include for-sale domains -- Show premium domains alongside available ones
• Sorting -- Order results by relevance, length, or alphabetically

Step 4: Generate and Browse

Click Generate to see results. Save favorites with the heart icon and click any domain to see registration options.

Tips for Better Results

1. Start broad, then narrow -- Begin with general keywords and refine based on what you see
2. Try multiple generators -- Each technique produces different styles of names
3. Use wordlists -- Pre-built keyword lists save time and ensure consistency across generators
4. Experiment with extensions -- A name that's taken as .com might be available as .io or .co
5. Combine approaches -- Use AI Search for exploration, then individual generators to dig deeper into a style you like
6. Save as you go -- Favorite names immediately so you don't lose track of good finds

When to Use Generators vs. AI Search

Use AI Search When

• You're starting from scratch and need broad exploration
• You want the AI to handle strategy and technique selection
• You prefer a conversational, iterative workflow

Use Individual Generators When

• You know exactly what naming style you want (e.g., compound words, portmanteaus)
• You want fine-grained control over inputs and parameters
• You're working with specific keyword lists
• You want to explore a single technique in depth
