NameStation is an AI-powered brand naming platform that helps you find available domain names. It combines AI search, 21+ name generators, real-time domain availability checking, team collaboration, and naming contests -- all in one platform. We've been helping people find the perfect name since 2012.
Is NameStation free to use?
Yes. You can sign up for free and start searching immediately. Free accounts receive daily AI credits that refresh every 24 hours, plus unlimited access to basic generators like Bulk Check and All Extensions. Paid plans offer more credits and advanced features.
How do I get started?

AI Search
How does AI Search work?
AI Search uses a multi-phase approach: it researches your industry, develops naming strategies, and generates names using techniques like compound words, portmanteaus, translations, and invented words. All names are checked for domain availability in real-time.

What should I include in my search description?
Be specific about:
- What you're naming (business, product, app, service)
- Your industry or niche
- Your target audience
- Brand personality (playful, professional, technical, friendly)
- Any constraints (must be .com, short names only, include a specific word)
How do I refine my results?
After your initial search, type follow-up instructions like:
- "Shorter names, under 8 characters"
- "More professional sounding"
- "Focus on .com domains"
- "Try a completely different approach"
Why do some results show as taken?
AI Search sometimes includes taken domains to show you naming patterns and inspire variations. Use the availability filter to show only available domains.
Credits and Billing
What are credits?
Credits are the currency for AI-powered features. Each AI search and AI-powered generator uses credits based on complexity. Basic generators don't require credits.
How do I check my credit balance?
Your credit balance is visible in the header bar and in your workspace settings. It updates in real-time as you use credits.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Free accounts receive new credits daily. If you need more, upgrade to a Pro or Team plan for a larger monthly allocation. You can also wait for your daily credits to refresh.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase if you haven't used your credits. Contact support for refund requests.
Domain Registration
Can I register domains through NameStation?
NameStation doesn't sell domains directly. When you find a name you like, click it to see registration links for popular registrars like GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Google Domains. You complete the purchase on the registrar's site.
How accurate is the availability check?
Domain availability is checked in real-time using registry APIs. Results are highly accurate, but availability can change between checking and registering -- we recommend registering quickly when you find a name you love.
What domain extensions are supported?
NameStation checks availability across 471+ domain extensions, including .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, .ai, .app, and hundreds more. Use the All Extensions tool to check a specific name across every extension.

Teams and Collaboration
How do I collaborate with my team?
Create a team workspace and invite members by email. Team members share a credit pool and can collaborate on projects. See Workspaces & Teams for details.
How does team billing work?
Team plans include unlimited team members at no extra per-person cost. You pay a flat plan price, and all members share the workspace's credit pool. The workspace owner manages billing from the workspace settings.
Contests
What are naming contests?
Naming contests let you crowdsource name ideas from NameStation's community of creative contributors. You describe what you need, set a prize, and receive submissions from naming experts. See Name Contests for the full guide.
How do I become a contributor?
Apply at Become a Contributor. Once approved, you can browse open contests and submit name ideas to earn prizes. See Becoming a Contributor for details.
Technical Issues
My search seems stuck. What should I do?
AI searches typically take 30-60 seconds. If a search appears stuck:
- Wait a full minute -- complex searches take longer
- Check your internet connection
- Try refreshing the page
- Start a new search
If the problem persists, contact support.
I'm not getting any results. Why?
This can happen if:
- Your credit balance is zero (check your balance in the header)
- Your search description is too vague (try being more specific)
- Your browser has JavaScript disabled (NameStation requires JavaScript)
